IMP Aerospace & Defence is thrilled to announce that IMP Academy launched September 3, 2024 at their Cascade Aerospace location in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
The IMP Academy is targeted at those aspiring to have a well-paid and stable start to their career as Aircraft Maintenance Technicians. The Transport Canada accepted curriculum is provided by the Canadian Council of Aviation and Aerospace (CCAA).
While the IMP Academy, which offers two programs, aims primarily to engage recent high-school graduates, it is for anyone looking for their aerospace career to take off at one of Canada’s top defence companies. The first program is a free, four-week Introduction to Aerospace Skilled Trades Program to earn a variety of transferable certificates while testing skills and learning about aviation.
After completing the Introduction to Aerospace Skilled Trades Program, interested candidates can apply to IMP Academy’s free Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship Program. Selected students will be hired by Cascade Aerospace and paid throughout the Apprenticeship program.
“In today’s challenging labour market conditions, the ability to attract, train and develop future Aircraft Maintenance Technicians that want to work, live and grow in the Fraser Valley is essential to the future of our business. We are beyond excited to start this exciting training academy,” said Stu McIntosh, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Cascade Aerospace.
This same program launched in Halifax, Nova Scotia earlier this year with new Aircraft Maintenance Technicians already in their first on-the-job training component of their apprenticeship program.
Applications are currently being reviewed for acceptance.
