WHAT YOU BRING
Courseware for this program is provided by the Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace’s Industry Led Training Program.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma
- Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be capable of climbing ladders, working from heights and working in confined spaces
- CSA approved safety footwear is required for this program. All other PPE and materials are provided.
EXPERIENCE
- A valid driver’s license is considered an asset.
- Previous experience operating ground equipment experience is considered an asset.
- Courses in Aircraft Maintenance offered by the Air Cadets are helpful in preparing students for the program.
- The following are also recommended for success in this program: Courses in General Mechanics, Automotive Mechanics, Science and Technology, Technical Education, or Physics.
SECURITY
- It is required for all IMP Academy students to be able to obtain and maintain security clearances from the Canadian government.

- Strong interpersonal skills and work well in a team
- An interest in mechanics
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Students will be expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the standards of behaviour and safety expected while working in the aviation industry
- Assist in creating a safe learning environment for themselves and others based on civility and respect
- Show respect for the people, property and the belongings of others
- Attend all classes
- Participate in discussions and group work
- Complete online modules and practical assessments
Students enrolled in the Apprenticeship Program will be employees of IMP Aerospace & Defence, and will be expected to follow all rules and regulations for employees. Daily participation, professionalism, and attendance are required and will be assessed throughout the course and program.

CAMPUS-SPECIFIC COURSE REQUIREMENTS
HALIFAX CAMPUS
- Passing grade in English course.
- Minimum of 60% in a grade 12 graduation on path math course, OR 50% in a grade 12 Academic or Advanced path math course.
ABBOTSFORD CAMPUS
- English Studies 12 (50%) OR English First Peoples 12 (50%) OR acceptable equivalent high school course or 3.0 credits of post-secondary English, humanities, or social sciences (50%) from a recognized institution
- Math: Pre-Calculus 11 (60%) OR Foundations of Math 11 (60%) OR Workplace Math 11 (60%) OR Algebra 11 (60%) OR Trade Mathematics 11 (60%)
